Name: Lindsey Roberts

Job Title: Nursery and Childcare Coordinator

Hometown: Victoria, Texas

I was born and raised in Victoria, Texas with my parents, sister, and brother. I am the middle child, and a lot of the typical qualities of a middle child I see in me. I am a peace-keeper with adults and children alike. I grew up in church and it was the best thing for me. It is where I had my start in working with children. The serving rotation at my church growing up was months in between one Sunday. I always treasured the times I got to be in the nursery holding a baby.

Choosing to go to UMHB was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In the fall of my first semester at UMHB I visited Vista and knew it was the place for me. I felt welcomed, loved, and wanted. After attending Vista for about six months I knew I found my church home. I became a member and immediately started serving in Vista Kids. Serving in Vista Kids helped me get connected with families who are some of my closest friends.

I graduated UMHB in May of 2017. I knew that I had found my new home in Bell County. My favorite thing was Vista because of all the amazing people I built relationships with. I have started graduate school in August of 2018 for an MBA with a healthcare administration specialization. I am so excited to be on the staff at Vista and be there with families in the new stage with babies.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

My most recent shows I’ve watched are The Office and Parks and Recreation. I didn’t catch these shows while they were on tv, but they are AMAZING! I also really like to re-watch movies such as the Princess Diaries 1 and 2, How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, and 13 Going on 30.

Your top reads?

I would have to pick When we Were on Fire, and a current book I am readying and already loving is Never Unfriended. From my childhood I really enjoyed reading the Boxcar Children.

First job – struggles and all

My first consistent job though was at Golden Corral during high school. I would say that my main struggle was either the food in the restaurant making me hungry, or by the end of shift not being hungry because I still could smell the food on me. I always enjoyed getting to interact with others whether it be the customers or co-workers.

Favorite place in the world

I would have to say my favorite place in the world would be any place with family or friends. I really enjoy quality time with others no matter what we are doing. One of my favorite things to do with family or friends is to play games. I am competitive, but I always have a blast no matter the game!

Favorite comfort food after a stressful week

My favorite comfort food is steak and potatoes. No matter what. I could eat this for every meal no matter if my weak has been stressful or not.

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about children. I work with children of all ages daily, and it makes my heart so happy. I most enjoy how every opportunity with a child is one to share the love of Christ. Some of my favorite moments in church have been seeing babies dedicated and children baptized. Seeing a child finally understand the message of Christ is amazing!!

Top 3 things on your bucket list

  1. Become a mom
  2. Travel out of the country
  3. Swim with dolphins

Most embarrassing story

My most embarrassing story would have to be my freshman year at UMHB when a large group of friends and I were playing games in my dorm lobby. We were having so much fun, but when I went to go take something to my room I fell as I was standing up. When I fell, it wasn’t just a small fall either, I completely ate it. Everyone was laughing until they realized I wasn’t getting up. I heard a pop that scared me, but after a minute I was up and laughing myself. The laughter mostly came from shock that I just fell in front of all these people that I had only known for about a month. I found out a few days later that I had broken the heel of my foot. It was hilarious to try and explain to others and I laughed every time I told others or had to explain.

What most excites you about joining the Vista team?

What most excites me about joining the Vista team is connecting with parents at the start of their children’s life. I love seeing the journey that children take, and it can start at such a young age. I enjoy not only getting to know the children I work with, but their entire family. God is doing amazing things at Vista, and I can’t wait to see them all happen. I am also super excited about working with amazing the amazing staff and volunteers at Vista.
