Generous Church | Part 2

n this section of II Cor. 8 the apostle Paul mentions that our giving should be proportionate to our income. That also means that our giving should be regular or consistent, yet too many Christians only give sporadically or when they have something left over. Why should our giving to the church be proportionate, regular, and consistent? What does it mean to give a tithe? How does the Old Testament principle of tithing apply to believers today? Are we really supposed to give 10% of our income?

Generous Church | Part 1

Jesus said that our money will follow our heart. Yet, many people who claim to be followers of Jesus don't give anything to the church. Some don't understand why you should, and some simply don't think they can because money is too tight. Still others only give under compulsion because they've been taught that God's commanded them to give 10%. In II Corinthians 8-9 the apostle Paul is encouraging the Corinthian believers to give generously, but he never mentions the Old Testament idea of tithing, nor does he say that God commands it. So, what should our giving to the church look like? How much should we give? Why should we give? These are all really good questions we'll explore over the next four weeks in our series "Generous Church."
