In the wrap up to our Family Matters series, we do a Q&A, answering questions about sex, patriarchy, infidelity, and discipleship in the family.
Nothing illustrates our relationship with God more clearly than the parent/child relationship. Like marriage, parenting is a picture of God's relationship with us. Unlike the view of many in our culture, scripture indicates that children are a blessing from the Lord and Jesus tells us that they should be treated as such. However, parenting is a weighty responsibility and it can be very difficult. What exactly is our responsibility as parents? What is the ultimate goal of parenting and how do we raise our kids the right way? The good news is we're not alone and scripture gives us some answers for the journey.
The apostle Paul declares that both marriage and singleness are gifts from God. Sadly, in the church and in culture, we often view marriage as a gift and singleness as something you deal with while waiting for the gift. But what does the Bible have to say about the single life? Is it really a blessing or some sort of curse? What is the proper view of singleness and how does one live a faithful single life? All good questions we'll try and answer in the fourth sermon in our "Family Matters" series.
Most everyone has had their life affected by divorce. What does the Bible have to say about divorce and remarriage? What does that mean for married couples? What does that mean for people who are divorced and/or remarried? How can the church be a place of truth but healing in a culture fractured by divorce?
